Summer flowers

Everytime I use a certain medium for some time the time comes when I want to try out another medium. So I decided to give my acrylic paint markers a break and come back to my neocolor II watersoluble wax crayons made by Carandache. I use these crayons in two ways:
  1. I apply them directly on the paper and then wet them.
  2. I shave them into empty yoghurt cups and drop a bit of water on the shavings.
I definitely prefer shaving and wetting them, but sometimes the crayons have been shaved - so I have to use them directly on the paper.

In order to create a contrast I used an alcoholbased marker for the background.

Mysterious houses

When I was doing this painting I had a certain scene in my mind: Sitting in an oriental tent and looking outside towards some mysterious buildings. I used my acrylic markers again, this time on mixed media paper.

Proper Paper for Acrylic Markers

I used cardstock paper for this abstract painting with acrylic markers. When I touched the paper, I thought that it would be smooth enough for my acrylic markers and not cause any paper pillings. I was wrong. It was not as bad as it was with mixed media paper, but I had still some paper pillings.
A long time ago I had bought a box full of coated paper. It was recommended for alcoholbased markers, but I didn't use it that much. You can use mixed media paper and even watercolour paper with alcoholbased markers, the only disadvantage is that you are using more ink this way. However, with acrylic markers it is different: you not only have a lot of paper pillings but you are damaging the tips of your markers. So for the next paintings done with acrylic markers I will go back to the coated paper.

Here you can see a mixture of architectureal styles which is typical for German towns.

Mountain village

I selected this diaslide for digitalization because I love the composition with the two trees and the fence in the foreground framing the focus - a mountain village with a church tower. In addition to that the photo brings back sweet memories of summer vacation in the alps.

Bronze reliefs on wooden door

I have taken up digitalizing my diaslides. There are quite a few of them which were taken by my father in the 60s of the last century, This one has been shot in the northern part of Italy (Italy in the 60s was a favorite country to spend holidays in at that time).

Framed Art

For I long time I had been looking for a way to display my art in my flat without hammering nails into the walls. A few days ago I found this frame. It is broad enough to put it on furniture, and the prints can be easily changed. The frame is not expensive - so I will buy another one or two.

Happy little Fish

The white gel pen really works well on acrylic markers' paint. The only thing is that you have to make sure that the acrylic ink is dry - otherwise the white of the gel paint will mix with the acrylic ink of the markers.

Art Greeting Card

I found a really simple and not-expensive way of creating greeting cards with my art on it:

  • Some time ago I bought a pack of blank white greeting cards with white envelopes from Amazon.
  • I scan my art, do a bit of additional design on Canva and upload them to the drugstore in my neighbourhood.
  • I have all the 16x10 cm photos in a small booklet which can be easily carried around and shown to friends and people I know.
  • When somebody is interested in getting a certain card, I just glue the photo on the greeting card.

Summer feeling

For me these colours just stand for the season we are in now: summer! The blues of summer skies and water, the red and pink stand for icecream with strawberries with yoghurt, the yellow stands for the sun.
