I found this seahorse as a coloring page on the internet. I printed it out and transferred the lines to watercolour paper. For the seahorse itself I used acrylic paint - yellow out of a no name tube and for the light green parts I mixed that yellow with green acrylic ink. For the background I used alcoholbased markers (stylefile markers).

Brown bear
This was a very quick sketch, done with a ball pen and the help of some photo references. I set myself a goal to do more of this kind of sketch: no detailed drawings, but a quick sketch which in some way shows the essence of the animal.

Cute Seahorse
I did this cute seahorse on watercolour paper. The background was painted with q-tips, something I tried for the first time, using phthalo blue mixed with white.

Colour mixing
When I am doing my colour mixing exercises I try to focus on simple shapes. For the painting I used lilac, a refill for molotow markers, cinnabar deep red and cyan. The latter two are acrylic inks.
In the end I was really fascinated about the variety of hues you can get with those three colours!

Blue and Red
This abstract painting was done with liquid watercolour inks. In Germany you can get two brands: one is "Colorex" which has a very wide colour range, and is produced by the French art company "Pebeo" and the other one is "Ecoline" which is produced by Royal Talens, an Art Company situated in the Netherlands. Unfortunately, the colours of both of these brands are not lightfast. So they are mainly used by illustrators who are more interested in selling their art as prints and not as originals.
I am focussing on having my art printed on self-made greeting cards, so I don't bother about lightfastness either.

Shades of Green
With this painting I wanted to focus on creating various shades of green with some red thrown in some places as the opposite colour on the colour-wheel. Green is not my favorite colour but everytime I look at landscape photos or - now, as spring is coming along - go outside in a park and look at bushes, grass or trees I am fascinated by the shades of green I see.

Leaving my comfort zone
Doll
Up to a few days ago my painting focus was on painting abstracts, either with acrylic inks, watercolour inks or neopastel II watersoluble wax crayons. So it was quite a step out of my comfort zone to try painting something for representational like this doll.

Coming back and Going Abstract
Yes, I know, I have been away for quite some time. The second half of 2020 was filled with all kinds of private problems to solve - I had to move out of my flat because the floors had to be redone. This meant packing stuff, moving to a second flat, unpacking and repacking when the renovation was done. And for course, Corona.
Now I've come back. Actually I did a lot of art in the last months, mostly abstract paintings. Here is one I did with acrylic ink.
