Harbour with light effect

  I use Gimp for image editing. Gimp is the open source alternative to photoshop, and - like photoshop - has got lots of filters. One group of filters are light effect filters. So far I haven't used them, but I did it with this particular photo because I thought it could do with a bit of additional something...

Doors

That kind of doors can be found in the Northern part of Germany. As far as I can remember I took this photo in the Hanseatic city of Rostock, a town located at the Baltic Sea. 

 

Long, long ago!

In the 60s of the last century Germans loved to spend their vacation in Italy. It was a big adventure then - driving over the Alps down to the Adriatic Coast. A foreign language, something to eat which was called pizza or pasta, and of course: the wonderful town of Venice with its old buildings and famous places.

At that time taking photos as diapositives was the state of the art. My father took this photo, and when he died I got several boxes full with diapositives. Now I am going through the boxes, select the ones I like and have them digitalized. 

Cikada

This photo was taken on holidays in the Provence in the South of France. If you look closer you can see the insect sitting on the branch - one of the big cikadas which were producing a typical sound of the South of Europa. Mostly you could not see them but here we were fortunate enough to take a shot of little noisy critters.

Playing with Colours in Gimp
